August 19, 2009

Tarrant County’s Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists committed to ending breast cancer forever, proudly announces that 14 programs from 11 local organizations received an unprecedented $1.5 million in grants to help uninsured and underinsured women and men in Tarrant County receive breast screening, treatment and services.

The funds were raised through events like the Komen Tarrant County Race for the Cure®, local third party event fundraising and the Breast Cancer 3 Day®. Up to 75 percent of the funds stay right here in Tarrant County to fund every step of the breast health journey.  The remaining 25 percent of each donated dollar funds national research.

These grants will primarily provide education, outreach, mammograms, treatment and diagnostics.
